this is why I'm here!

This week has reminded me of why I'm in this lovely country. It's full of excellent opportunities and there are many more to come!

I decided to go to wimbledon thursday afternoon while I was working, and a couple of hours later there I was! It was so great to walk into the grounds of wibledon and hear the roars of the crowds in centre court. Too bad I couldn't afford to go in there! I did get to sneak into the stands at court 2 though, although that's not much of a feat. I saw an excellent doubles game between two short englishmen and some croatian guys. It was SO close that on the last set or game or whatever it is, they called it off because there was no way it could finish before the sun went down. It was an excellent atmosphere, a few too many brits in the crowd though. I ended up having to go for the underdogs in true aussie style. I could never play a sport where there is an umpire or referee calling all the shots though, I don't know how the professionals cope! One of the line calls was so obviously wrong that the croatian player was abusing the umpire and even threw his tennis racket at the ground! Great stuff. It was excellent just to know that I was a (very minor) witness to such an important event, so I'm so happy I went.

Friday and Saturday I went to a music festival in Hyde Park called Wireless. The promoters said it was to promote 'up-and-coming' bands but I think that all the real bands were probably in the mud bath at glastonbury. That said though we had an excellent time, I have a wristband giving me express and free entry, access to the guest area and toilet vans that were so clean and classy that they had vanities, gold taps and even toilet paper! Now that is luxury for a festival!

Friday night The Bravery, Moby and New Order were headliners and last ngith it was Basement Jaxx. I'm most looking forward to Wednesday night cos Supergrass are playing! Woo Hoo. Sorry Adelle I didn't get to say high to Basement Jaxx for you! They were excellent though.

I'm also going to see Mary Poppins the musical for Jess's birthday this week, should be lots os fun. Going to attempt to make apricot chicken for everyone for dinner, I bought a huge can of apricot nector from the australia shop and it cost me a fortune! Mum if you see this monday morning can you please tell me what else to put in apricot chicken?

Had a picnic in holland park today then went to the movies, the squirils in that park are crazy, they'll jump on your head if it means they get food! Aparently there are bunnies and foxes in there but I didn't see any, there were a couple of peacocks walking around which I thought was pretty cool for a park in the middle of London. I'm so happy that I live where I do though, it's so close to heaps of cool parks and pubs, this summer should be well wicked! hehe

Best be off home for the night, haven't had much sleep lately and starting to get a bit tired!

i am sitting at my computer typing this comment with a runny nose, sore throat and blocked ears and it is freezing outside (though not raining for a change!) needless to say- wimbledon, wireless and balmy evenings sounds way preferable!
