everyday life
I just realised the other day I'm not following the rules I defiantly swore I would before leaving on this trip. I remember saying 'I'm going to spend most of my time traveling not working, not doing weekend trips, and I'm definitely not living in London. In fact I'm only going to England to make a base for travel.' And the funny thing is a lot of my friends here said they'd swore the same thing. There are thousands of us here.
So I've been sucked into the trap along with thousands of other Aussies of living a normal life in London. Turns out it's actually not that bad, it's actually pretty darn cool! I do plan on living in a different city before I have to leave, but I haven't had a minute since I got back from Italy to plan my next Europe trip let alone where to move. This last week for example was Jacinta's going away party which was really quite crazy, and therefore I needed a day of recovery doing nothing but eating a gourmet breakfast, Sunday was taken up with beer at a pub in Greenwich then a film festival in Notting Hill, Monday I worked back late, Tuesday went shopping, tonight Naomi my new roommate is cooking us and her friends a Moroccan roast, tomorrow night I'm going to see 'As You Like It' with Susie, Friday it's Paula's birthday so we're having wine cheese and cake, Saturday more of the Portobello Film Festival and more of the Tate Modern and then the next weekend it's Notting Hill Carnival, Shakespeare at the Globe, and most likely a trip to Stratford-upon-Avon where Shakespeare was born and so on and so on. It never stops!
I've been pretty surprised because I'm really enjoying living a normal everyday life here, in the suburbs I guess you can say. Every night there is a different sunrise and sunset and I can watch them from both sides as we're up on the 5th floor. I've used a whole role of film taking photos of them all! Living near there water makes such a huge difference to quality of life as well, I find it so soothing to walk cross the bridge everyday, even if it is full of tonnes of rubbish.
Another surprising thing is that I've been eating the best I ever have despite the fact that England has the worst food in the world (besides maybe the US) Dad you'll be very pleased to hear that I'm cooking fresh balanced (and quite tastey) meals almost every night! Just need to get started on the excecise next...
Anyway that's enough about my everyday life for today... next time I promise something more exciting! Oh and some Siena photos as well.

Wow, you make "the ordinary" sound pretty exciting - I guess living in London is not really ordinary to you or I - All those famous places you are visiting - the Tate Modern, Notting Hill, the "Globe" theatre- wow!
And as for Jude Law, what can I say? Everyone at work was so jealous when I told them, Tarnia from work lived in London for 2 years and never saw anyone famous!
I wondered how you felt about living in London, doing the working life, coming home, cooking dinner, cleaning thing - I wondered if it was getting boring, or if it was interesting just because it was somewhere different.
So I am glad to hear you are enjoying things.
