pantheon

The Pantheon sits in the middle of one of several Roman squares; the modern city has been built around it over 2000 years. It’s definitely the most ancient and significant piece of architecture I’ve ever seen. The building is one big open room, a giant cylinder with a dome on top. The sun shines through a whole in the middle of the dome, lighting up different parts of the interior over the day. It would have been so cool to be in there when it rained, apparently the water disappears into ‘invisible’ ancient holes in the paving and it looks quite amazing.
